White Building 1923 - Downtown Franklin, Tennessee

The Franklin Historic District is an architecturally and historically significant collection of buildings located in Franklin, Tennessee. Composed of sixteen blocks within the original town boundaries, the district contains notable examples of 19th and early 20th century architecture. Within the district are both residential and commercial properties centered around the town square and courthouse. One of the included commercial structures is the two-story brick White Building constructed in 1923. It was built by Dr. John White who used it as his office & drug store until 1928. Over the years, many other businesses have occupied this building until it returned to its roots for a while as a Rexall Corner Drug Store and eventually a coffee shop.

The Franklin Historic District was originally listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 5, 1972 but only included buildings/structures completed prior to 1907. During a subsequent boundary increase on April 13, 1988, buildings completed between 1907 and 1941 that retain their original architectural character were also included in the listing. Additionally, another boundary increase was added to the historic district on March 15, 2000. Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.
