Darkfield lighting with fill - a photo on Flickriver

            It would be easier to show than it would be to describe how I do these....
But here goes...

Inside my 30" x 20" foam core lightbox, from rear to front ( in layers,) I placed two strobes (sb800's) - I could use one -
- then I leaned a piece of white craft foam in front ot them, next,
- a piece of black craft foam (to keep the strobes from blasting through the foam and creating a hot spot), 
- then a larger piece of foam core to lean my final 'sweep' piece of foam core (this image I am using grey).
- then I place my items and fire the strobe(s) in commander mode.
-to get  a little more light on the front of the label, I held two more pieces of craft foam on left and right of the front of the light box and shot through the middle opening. This caused a dark spot on the center of the label and mostly the glass. I could have covered the front of the light box completely except for a hole for my lens to go through and would have had a smaller dark area to contend with.

I can retouch this one to even out the dark areas.

-so how do the edges get illuminated? Because the sides of the box bounce the light on the sides of the glass. My large piece of foam core is not as wide as the box. More like 20 inches wide so I get five inches on each side to let light get around.

I said it is harder to describe than to show. Maybe I could do a video...
