            An after work visit on Tuesday the 9th May 1978 to Attenborough. Following an hour or so around Attenborough I have made my way towards Beeston, with a final session at a foot crossing to the west of Beeston Station before heading to Beeston station and the train home. With the sun starting to get low in the sky and the shadows lengthening as 25110 passes with an early evening parcels train.

Locomotive History
25110 was originally D5260 and was built at Derby works, entering traffic in March 1964 allocated to Toton MPD. It was part of a large batch of Type 2's being allocated to Midland Main Line depots which were not equipped with train heating equipment and would generally be used to replace steam locomotives on freight workings. In October 1967 it was part of a batch of six Toton Type 2’s (D5259 - D5265) transferred to Wigan Springs Branch as part of the manoeuvrings of the diesel fleet to bring about the demise of the last outpost of steam working in the North West. During March 1972 it transferred back to Toton only to return to Springs Branch a year later in May 1973. From June to September 1976 25110 was in Derby works and received what would be its last classified repair. Overdue classified repair 25110 was withdrawn in October 1980, dispatched to Swindon works in December 1980 and after languishing for thirteen months broken up in March 1982.
