            Crewe allocated 47490 stands in platform 6 at Preston, 16th October 1982.

Locomotive History
47490 was originally D1725 and was built by Brush at their Falcon works, Loughborough, entering traffic in March 1964. Its initial allocation was Bristol Bath Road where it remained until March 1967 when it became a London Midland Region engine. It was fitted with electric train heating in the early 1970’s and became 47490 under the 1973 TOPS renumbering scheme. It spent most of its career from 1967 allocated to Crewe with a few years at Bescot in the early 1970’s and back at Bristol in the late 1980’s. It became 47768 when fitted with RCH equipment for use with Parcel Control Vehicles (PCV’s) in March 1994 and was withdrawn from traffic in July 2000. It is still in existence in March 2021 over twenty years after withdrawal, in long term storage at Carnforth.
