Just some trees

            This is just a shot of some trees. I love being in the forest and I have spent much of my life looking at views just like this... not just much of my life, but some of my favorite moments in my life, looking at views like this.

I grew up in Salem to parents who had very modest incomes. They didn't spend much on travel or things, but they did take me out into the woods nearly every weekend. At the time, I'd say I resented it. I didn't like hiking very much and you've seen one lake, you've seen 'em all... at least that was my point of view at age 13. Now I really appreciate all of those trips and all of those hikes. My dad was really the instigator of the hiking. He really loved it. I miss him.

Today I'm a bit of an encyclopedia when it comes to the Central Oregon Cascades. Who knew that would all be valuable one day? I wish from a historical perspective, I had taken my camera along because so much has changed. There are so many more people in the woods.

So this picture isn't really one for Explore and it's probably no different than one you've taken... but it's such a good scene.
