University of Queensland Physics building construction at St Lucia - Brisbane

Uni. Physics Block Hope

Queensland University's new physics block at St. Lucia was expected to be complete by the end of 1955, Physics Department head (Professor H. C. Webster) said last night.

He said the building would be based on the latest American designs for making best use of floor space. Modern laboratories would be installed with recently developed American equipment, but research in nuclear fission would not be undertaken.

Tenders were called yesterday by the Co-Ordinator-General's Department for supply of lighting fittings for the block.
