Sunrise at the Tiber - a photo on Flickriver

            With a length of 405 km, the Tiber is the third longest river in Italy. It rises in the Apennines, flows through the Italian capital Rome and flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea west of the city. 

The historical centre of Rome spreads largely along the left bank of the Tiber. This is where most and the largest architectural monuments from antiquity are located. The Christian buildings, on the other hand, are scattered on both sides of the Tiber. The Vatican City with St. Peter's Basilica, visible in the background, is located on the right side of the Tiber. This kiosk is not far from St. Peter's Basilica on the left bank of the Tiber.

Der Tiber ist mit 405 km Länge der drittlängste Fluss in Italien, Er entspringt im Apennin, fließt durch die italienische Hauptstadt Rom und mündet westlich der Stadt in das Tyrrhenische Meer. 

Das historische Zentrum Roms breitet sich zum großen Teil am linken Ufer des Tibers aus. Hier befinden sich die meisten und größten Baudenkmäler aus der Antike. Die christlichen Gebäude hingegen sind auf beiden Seiten des Tiber verstreut. Die Vatikanstadt mit dem weithin sichtbaren Petersdom befindet sich auf der rechten Seite des Tiber.
