Rocky Rabbit, rustc ranch - a photo on Flickriver

            Here is another shot over the Hicks farm north of Hygiene, CO., perhaps my favorite farm and location along with the barn next to the original Denver Pacific rail route. This drastically and long-awaited spring was just starting to show. The background is of Rabbit Mountain Open Space in front of the Divide. It is actually a rocky uplift and dike formed by the Rocky Mountains. You can probably see the rocky dike atop the ridge. The visible paths and tracks are an indistinct tangle up there and may have been made by cattle or folks gathering stone for building material. The hawk is still eyeing me while sitting atop the barn light. This brings perfect meaning to "barn wood." Wait, wait, wasn't Rocky a flying squirrel? 

I blazed away for the time slot I had. I probably maxed my film card. I need to return with an owner's wandering pass to poke about. 

The sky was developing while I was shooting away. There is plenty going to rust around here north of Hygiene, Colorado, including corrugated roofs. I zeroed in on the windmill tail and it identifies itself as "Hicks Farm." It always seemed the Hicks were plentiful around here. There should be plenty of this winter's ground water ready for petroleum distillate free pumping into this valley below Rabbit Mountain, over the back sheds below Mount Audubon in the Rockies Indian Peaks Wilderness area. This is a tighter view of the Hick farm north of Hygiene, Colorado.
