Echium candicans - a photo on Flickriver

Echium candicans

A little bit of dracarys in the sky above Madeira! ;-)
The high peaks have spectacular hikes around them. I hiked this one for the sunset, with a cloud inversion down below. You should not have a fear of heights, steep drops everywhere, sometimes on both sides of the narrow path. Also bring a good headlamp, it gets dark quickly there (I'm used to Norwegian sunsets :-D)!
Many images of the paths themselves are taken from just next to the parking lot. But paths are meant to be hiked, and you're rewarded with views like this!
