Western Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla flava flavissima) ♂

Taken from the dam at Swithland Reservoir, the bird was on the overflow wall.
We were at the railings end, when a birder told us of the Yellow wag, so we went round for a look,
It was still there but distant, it was walking towards is though.
I took some distance shots just in case and waited for it to get closer, taking shots.
Someone came parked his car and stood with his camera not bothering to conceal himself, of coarse the bird flew back from were it came, thanks I said.
Just after a second bird appeared much closer than the original bird but still not as near as I would have liked, but got some agreeable shots. The two birds slowly moved towards each other had a chat a flew north.
The western yellow wagtail (Motacilla flava) is a small passerine in the wagtail family Motacillidae, which also includes the pipits and longclaws.
This species breeds in much of temperate Europe and Asia.

The race of Yellow Wagtail found in the UK during the summer months certainly lives up to its scientific name,
Motacilla flava flavissima – the most yellow of yellows.
