So Much for "Civic Virtue" - a photo on Flickriver

            “Civic Virtue Triumphant Over Unrighteousness” (1909–1922) is a sculpture group and fountain in New York City, created by sculptor Frederick William MacMonnies and architect Thomas Hastings.  Initially placed in front of City Hall in Manhattan, it spent almost 72 years beside Queens Borough Hall in Queens.  Always controversial for various reasons (it was considered misogynistic, among other things), the sculpture group was exiled to Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, where it now resides.  The remaining fountain in Queens looks none too happy.  (The sky isn’t too thrilled, either!)
