For I while, filed in the back of my brain, has bee a plan for a sunset shot of the old Lizard Lifeboat Station.

It had to be the correct time of year for the setting sun to illuminate the old building. It had to be a high tide to provide foreground interest. And the weather needed to be "interesting" - meaning an interesting sky.

With a (boring) clear blue sky, 2 of the 3 ingredients were in place. So, I headed to the location - planning to take my shot and use Photoshop's new Sky Replacement feature for the first time.

The eagle eyed amongst you might have already spotted that the shadows on the building are a touch hard for the patricianly cloudy sky - or you may remember this particular sky from a shot I took a few years ago at Holywell Bay!

The new feature makes replacing skies dead easy. But... you have to take care to select a sky that suits the light falling on the scene. I looked back over my images from recent years and found only three that might have worked (including this one).

Now begs the question... is replacing the sky cheating? Or can it be a way of creating an image from half an opportunity?
