            The Amargosa Range watches over the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park. Thimble Peak, in the upper right of the frame, stands at an elevation of 6381 feet (1945 meters) while the highest point in the dunes is about 140 feet (43 meters). The disparity of the mountains and the dunes is one of the many amazing features of Death Valley.
