Steller's jay is a bird native to western North America and the mountains of Central America, closely related to the blue jay found in eastern North America. It is also known as the long-crested jay, mountain jay, and pine jay. It is the only crested jay west of the Rocky Mountains. This bird is named after the German naturalist Georg Wilhelm Steller, the first European to record them, in 1741. Johann Friedrich Gmelin formally named the species after Steller in the 13th edition of Systema Naturae (first published in 1788). The Steller's jay is the provincial bird of the Canadian province of British Columbia.

O gaio de Steller é um pássaro nativo do oeste da América do Norte e das montanhas da América Central, intimamente relacionado ao gaio azul encontrado no leste da América do Norte. Também é conhecido como gaio de crista longa, gaio da montanha e gaio do pinheiro. É o único gaio com crista a oeste das Montanhas Rochosas.

Stellers gaai is een vogel afkomstig uit het westen van Noord-Amerika en de bergen van Midden-Amerika, nauw verwant aan de blauwe gaai die voorkomt in het oosten van Noord-Amerika. Het is ook bekend als de jay met de lange kuif, de berggaai en de dennengaai. Het is de enige kuifgaai ten westen van de Rocky Mountains.

La ghiandaia di Steller è un uccello originario dell'America settentrionale occidentale e delle montagne dell'America centrale, strettamente imparentato con la ghiandaia azzurra che si trova nell'America settentrionale orientale. È anche conosciuta come la ghiandaia dalla cresta lunga, la ghiandaia di montagna e la ghiandaia dei pini. È l'unica ghiandaia crestata a ovest delle Montagne Rocciose.

Steller's Jay ist ein Vogel, der im Westen Nordamerikas und in den Bergen Mittelamerikas beheimatet ist und eng mit dem Blauhäher verwandt ist, der im Osten Nordamerikas vorkommt. Es ist auch als Langhaubenhäher, Berghäher und Kiefernhäher bekannt. Es ist der einzige Haubenhäher westlich der Rocky Mountains.
