40 at Breaks Hall

Settle - Carlisle Railway. 40 035 "Apapa" on the long embankment at Breaks Hall south of Appleby with a southbound freight c.1983, Helm tunnel can be seen in the background. the telegraph poles are long gone and this shot cannot be taken now due to the bushes and trees having overgrown this spot. Off to the right at present there has been work going on in the cutting between this location and the site of the former Griseburn ballast sidings to improve drainage and the stability of the cutting.
