46233 "Duchess of Sutherland" at Gallansay

            With the water stop at Appleby booked for 13 minutes there was no time to spare on the short drive from Keld. When I got out of the car I heard a roaring sound which I thought was the wind. Once in the field I realised that it was the Duchess well and truly on her way! The Pennine escarpment from Great Dun Fell to Murton Fell lies beneath a blanket of snow as the driver "gives it the gun" on the 1 in 100 all the way to Ais Gill summit. Everything went according to plan for this shot, exhaust, snow and sunshine. The shot of the day for me!
