Eastern Box Turtle. (land tortoise ) This is a very rare critter that i found in the preserve. He is hiding in his shell ( photo shy ) they just held a survey to see how many are around. I don't know the result but I can guess that there are not many.

            These like to warm up on the edges of roads and they are not the fastest critters on the planet, Why I go very slow through any nature area. i have moved a few off the roads in the area when I find them there. Unlike many people in the area who's interests at any given second are so important that they can;t slow down for anything. Even for a few seconds because it prevents them from being where they can best attain their self centered interests.
