Communing with nature - a photo on Flickriver

            I love trees, so I thought I'd get some pix in their company.  I always hate to see trees succumb to disease, and, even worse, to the ravages of urban development.  To me, trees symbolize a grace, freedom and beauty that are all virtues we might aspire to in our infinitely more complex human lives.  I mean, who among us wouldn't love to be called "willowy" or "flowering!"  

It's fun to mingle with crowds, eat in good restaurants and socialize at lively gatherings, but I find it even more affirming and conducive to an inner sense of calm when I'm able to enjoy the serenity and majesty of nature: the ocean, a country road, a quiet garden.  

I hope some of these photos inspire a feeling of peace and serenity . . . Lord knows we need it in times like these.  xoxo
