La Punaise verte ponctuée (Nezara viridula) est de couleur verte en été et brune en automne. Il existe deux formes vertes, l’une totalement de cette couleur, l’autre ayant les bords du pronotum, le connexivum et l’avant de la tête blanc mat à rosé (forme Torquata). Sa membrane est transparente avec l’abdomen vert dessous. Elle possède deux points aux angles basaux du scutellum, puis 3 points blancs le long de la base du scutellum entre ces deux points noirs. L’apex du scutellum est de la même couleur du corps et ponctué comme celui-ci. Idem pour l’exocorie.
Grande variété de milieux ouverts, bien exposés au soleil avec une grande diversité de plantes herbacées.
Répartition géographique : En France, elle est répandue dans les deux tiers méridionaux.
 Il y a 5 stades larvaires au total. Durant les trois premiers stades, elles sont de couleur noire avec des taches blanches. Puis des couleurs vertes rouges et roses apparaissent, toujours avec ces taches blanches.
