Freya, by NJO Blommer - a photo on Flickriver

            Freya in her chariot drawn by cats surrounded by cherubs.  Cherubs are not know from Scandinavian mythology, the artist has borrowed them from classical imagery to illustrate her role as the goddess of love.

These are photographs of book illustrations from 'Myths of the Norsemen' by H. A. Guerber.

They have been taken from my own copy of the book which was printed in 1908.

As far as I know the work is old enough to be out of copyright, but I will remove the images if this is not correct.
