There are 120 Drosanthemum species in Southern Africa of which 18 occur in Namaqualand. Photographed outside McDougall Bay, Port Nolloth.

This photo is a 50% crop in order to show the dense, glistening, round bladder ( water ) cells on the leaves of the plant. These cells are the basis for the name Drosanthemum which is from the Greek word drosos( dew) and anthos ( flower ).
