Nutmeg-Noix de muscade - a photo on Flickriver

La Grenade est le deuxième producteur mondial de la noix de muscade.

Le fruit du muscadier est le seul au monde à donner deux épices : la muscade et le macis. Éclatant en deux lorsqu'il atteint sa pleine maturité, ce drôle de petit abricot, d'un beau jaune pâle, révèle un noyau brun foncé, la muscade proprement dite (qui n'est donc pas une noix), enrobée d'une membrane fibreuse et cassante rouge écarlate, le macis.

The fruit of the nutmeg tree is the only one in the world to give two spices: nutmeg and mace. Bursting into two when it reaches its full maturity, this funny little apricot, a beautiful pale yellow, reveals a dark brown core, the actual nutmeg (which is not a nut), coated with a membrane brittle and fibrous scarlet, mace.
