A silly story happened to us on Wednesday. After lunch I crawled into bed with Timmy. He was lying across the bed again and left me just enough room for me to just fit next to him. I had to pull on the duvet a little from time to time because it was cold coming in from the side. I fell asleep with my left arm around Timmy as usual and he pressed his hind paws against my left side.

After about an hour I had to turn on my side, whereby I slid a little towards the edge of the bed, because Timmy has to lie across the bed. After a while I realised that Timmy was getting up and thought he wanted to roll over. But no, he was struggling to get his left hind paw from under my belly, which gravity had pulled down. Timmy left the bed limping.

That evening he went to bed at 8pm instead of patrolling as usual. When I also went to bed at around 1am he disappeared shortly afterwards. It was probably too dangerous for him with me 😉

On Thursday he was still limping, didn't come to see me midday and and disappeared at night when I went to bed. But then he stayed out all night and then came to bed with me at 6.20am.
There was hardly any sign of limping. First he laid down at the foot of the bed. When he realised that he wasn't being stroked down there, after some deliberation, he came up within reach of my hand.

Today, Friday morning, he walked almost normally and then after lunch also laid down in bed and cuddled up to me as usual. When he got up earlier, I was talking to his girlfriend, our caretaker, outside the door. Lo and behold, he was limping badly again. I suspect he wanted to be pitied, which of course he was 😊

And the moral of the story: if you go to bed with a cat don't forget about gravity!!!
