CNW SD40-2 6855, St John, IN - a photo on Flickriver

            Yesterday, I posted a shot of a #848 train, loaded coal for the power plant at Wheatfield, IN with the current Union Pacific power on the train.  I'm going back to May of 1981 for this rescan of what a Wheatfied coal train looked like about forty years ago.  A classic Northwestern SD40-2 leads the train south through St John, IN, a couple miles north of yesterday's location.  St John is where Conrail's ex-NYC Egyptian line crossed the old Monon, which at the time of this picture was in the hands of the Louisville & Nashville.  Today, NS and CSX cross here.
