Rainy day in Nyaung Shwe - a photo on Flickriver

            Surface of the Inle lake is at an altitude of 890m. Hence the climate in Inle lakeside is much cooler than Yangon. It was chilly on this day as it was raining due to cyclone activities.

The area surrounding Inle Lake was developed as a hill station by the British before the independence. Taunggyi, the capital of Shan state 30km northeast of Nyaung Shwe, was originally developed  as the summer capital of British Myanmar.
