Settlement by Lake Kizaki-ko - a photo on Flickriver

            This photo was taken from Inao community on the opposite side of the lake. The settlement in the photo belongs to Uminokuchi (海ノ口) community of Oomachi city. 

Mixed forest in the backdrop consists of Sugi (Japanese cedar, Cryptomeria japonica), Karamatsu (Japanese larch, Larix kaempferi) and broad-leaf trees such as Mizunara (Japanese oak, Quercus crispula Blume) and Buna (Japanese beech, Fagus crenata Blume).

Patchwork of trees is probably a result of afforestation, in which straight-trunk conifer trees that sell at good prices like Sugi and Karamatsu were planted after felling broad leaf trees near the settlement.
