Sunset over the boat wave in Futami Bay

            Our boat returned to the Futami port at around 16:30. It was a 30 minute delay, thanks to which I could see a beautiful sunset over Futami Bay.

Futami Bay (二見湾) is the natural harbour of Chichi-jima protected from the rough waves of the western Pacific by the two capes of Yagi-yama (left) and Oone-yama (right). The rock beside Oone-yama is Eboshi-iwa (烏帽子岩), which is named after a cap worn by Samurai in traditional costume. Eboshi looks like toque blanche although the colours are not white.

There are several communities along the bay, among which Oomura (大村) is the main community of Ogasawara village municipality.
