7029 approaching Burton Salmon - a photo on Flickriver

            Great Western Castle Class 4-6-0 No 7029 Clun Castle emerges from the mist as it approaches the site of the old station at Burton Salmon on an extremely cold, damp and foggy morning.

One reason why I chose this location was that I predicted the reduction in visibility would take out the otherwise obtrusive electricity pylon on the far side and so it proved. It is taken at the now closed Masterman's crossing.

An un-related weather bonus however was the lack of a headboard on the smoke box.

The Collett designed loco was at the head of 1Z70, the 07:56 Tyseley Steam Trust to York where it arrived some 5 hours later.

This was the Christmas White Rose promoted and operated by Vintage Trains.

My apologies to the driver (should he ever see this) for not returning his wave, I was too busy looking through the viewfinder to notice!

It was good to finally meet Gordon and have a chat whilst we waited in the cold.
