Daisy and David (Prince of Wales) Go to Meet Princess Cressida Eudora

            Even before Daisy arrived at the opulent party thrown by King George in honor of the visiting Princess Cressida Eudora, she felt she knew exactly what was going on: Just as David had become more insistent to the King that he would marry Daisy and that she would ultimately become his Queen, a beautiful, young, royal lady was being dangled before David.

Daisy had cooled on the idea of marriage but did not want to break up with David. She was in a time of transition after her husband Tom's suicide at the end of her unexpectedly 
hideous trip to New York. Other than her desire to be reuinited with her missing daughter Pammy, Daisy was unsure exactly what she wanted to do next.

At the royal party, Daisy had little interest in the guest of honour--or any of the other 
bejeweled guests. Everyone seemed so...puffy...puffed up. What would have entranced 
Daisy just weeks ago now bored her. The room swirled around her in a blur.

If anything, Daisy imagined the scene the way she thought LaVern's brother Jimmy might: 
an avalanche of glitter must have fallen on this place and knocked the senses out of 
everyone. Daisy laughed at the thought before being brought back to reality.

"Daisy Buchanan? I'm Eloise Rattenbury. I'm so glad to meet you. I'm also from America..."

The girl looked so beautiful and kind, Daisy thought, having no way to realize the fake 
identity of the aspring journalist whose real name was Grace Garamond.

Nor could Daisy have known that both 'Eloise Rattenbury' and David, the Prince of Wales, were deeply involved with the treacherous man who Daisy thought she had killed, Binx Buchanan. 

Binx, the man who had tried to attack Angel, the French teenager who took care of Pammy.

Binx, who Daisy believed, most certainly was behind Pammy's disappearance.

Perhaps a new friend, Daisy thought. Certainly someone with whom to pass the evening rather than staring at the Princess or wondering where David was...
