            During the Jazz Age:

LaVern La Rue's younger brother Jimmy and movie star Mary Maine Madison had been dating for several months. Despite many attempts by Clara Bow to lure him away, Jimmy stayed true to Mary. Mary's growing independence made her tired of her image as "the sweetest girl in America," an image that froze her as a teenager whereas she had already turned twenty. Mary was ready to break away from her 'momager' and establish her own life...a life in which her relationship with Jimmy would take center stage...

Mary: "Jimmy, I debated so long before cutting that long mane I had until I realized: I should just do it. I'm a girl of today, not a soppy movie image of the past. I'm so glad that I stopped stalling and just..."

me?"

Mary: "Yes, Jimmy, yes!"
