SHL0041 - a photo on Flickriver

            Another image discovered while doing some rummaging around in seldom seen files.  The date is March 4, 1981 and the eastbound Lamoille Valley freight train is departing St. Albans, VT enroute to St. Johnsbury.  This is my only image of the LVRC.  After shooting this we took off east to find another suitable photo location.   After waiting around in the -14 degree  temperatures for a couple hours, we decided to go back and investigate.  No train.  RS-3 No. 7803 had developed a problem, the train returned to the yard and it was annulled.  So much for our day shooting the LVRC.  I do remember one thing that we discovered heading out to shoot this train.  We passed a little orange sign that read "frost heaves."  Being from the sunny south, we had never heard the term before.  After hitting one a speed and rearranging everything in the truck, we soon got an education.
