This Winn-Dixie opened in 1986 as one of the original prototype Marketplace stores (which is why this building was built using the older 70's/early 80's Winn-Dixie design). This store served as a replacement for an older Winn-Dixie store located at 7159 US Hwy 1, located three miles south of here. While I think this store was remodeled inside sometime in the early-mid 90's, you'd be hard pressed to believe that, as the interior color scheme looks like something out of 1986!

Another attempt at photographing the Thank You sign. While cut off, it’s much clearer in this photo. I always thought it was a rather lofty claim for Winn-Dixie to call themselves “America’s Supermarket” since their footprint never extended beyond the edges of the Southeast, but I guess they had big dreams back in the 80’s and 90’s.
