Plain view on Everest - a photo on Flickriver

            In the final days of my Nepal trip I decided I had to see Mount Everest. The weeks before, the view on the mountains were more than bad, and after Annapurna I hardly had seen anything of the mountains around Kathmandu. 

I had considered hiking in this area, but the smog was awful, and also there were the first signs of the Monsoon Season coming. I just didn't want another disappointment, because I expected to see only glimpses of the higher mountains, first the smog, then the clouds.

I gambled for a day that the weather would be nice in the morning, so I could take a trip with an airplane. That gamble  was partly OK, because on the day that I flew it had rained during the night and there was a thick cloud carpet covering the lower mountains.

But in the end I had a plain view on Everest. Mount Everest is the mountain on the left, with its triangular shape.

Still it leaves me with the feeling I might have to go back to see more of the area around ME.
