Delmar Tower Looking South - a photo on Flickriver

            Here are 2 views of Milwaukee Roads Delmar tower located at the crossing of their Terre Haute sub and NYC's 3-I line.  The CM&G also came off here in the N/W quadrant and went west, northwest.  In the old days, there was a wye that came out of the CM&G yard west of the tower and connected to the Milwaukee south of the tower at CM&G Junction.  It was removed sometime between 1942 and 1953.  There was also a 2-story house in the S/W quadrant, possibly for the operator?  I have no info on that, but it shows in John Barrigers photo of this location in 1936.  Delmar handled orders to both the NYC and Milwaukee trains, including orders for the CM&G line.  2 wyes were located in the N/W quadrant, one leading to the CM&G and the other leading directly to the NYC.  There was also a stub track from the NYC wye that stubbed into the tower on the north side of the tower.  This location was remote and was about 2 miles east of Momence.  These 2 views were taken by Ted Schnepf in the early 1970's.  Tower was built in 1906 and taken out of service in 1979.  It still stood until at least 1983.  Call sign for the tower was of course "DA".  This location is the absolute core of my railroading interest.  If any further info is wanted, please ask.  I have a lot.  At the time of this photo, Penn Central was in control of the 3-I line.  Today, the Milwaukee is long gone and the Norfolk Southern owns the 3-I and this location is called "Dell".
