NYC Over the Iroquois - a photo on Flickriver

            Viewing the NYC's Egyptian line bridge through the trees just north of Kentland, Indiana on April 10th, 2022.  No trains have passed over this bridge in over 20 years, but it still spans the gap in hopes of someone to use it for some sort of business someday.  Eventually, someone will scrap it but for now, it sits peacefully echoing sounds of Egyptian passenger trains and long NYC freights at high speeds.  

I played here as a child, fished from the bridge, took photographs of Milwaukee Road trains and climbed on it.  We rode our bikes out here all summer for an escape from the boring town of Kentland.  We brought coolers full of beer and smoked weed out here as high school kids and now as an adult, I remember all the good times.
