Lantern in Winter

            The Chicago Botanic Garden is a great place to go on a winter day, especially if there has been a a recent snowfall. The garden is nearly empty compared to the Spring and Summer crowds. Generally I am able to stroll on my own and have the place to myself. This lantern and the bridge to the Japanese garden are always a highlight of my visits . On this day I scrambled down the little embankment that runs from the walking path down to the lake. The slope was slippery with the new-fallen snow but I was able to find a spot that was relatively flat and that gave me just the right vantage point to capture the snow-covered lantern and the bridge.
