Chip Slap Comedy presents 'Patience', a play written by one of the members of the company, Marianne Walsh.

Marianne and Rachael Dennis have been acting together since they were aged 6, when they were both members of the English Touring Theatre’s outreach programme, which offered drama classes for children and young people. It was during lockdown that they formed their company and began to write and perform short comic sketches together, for social media platforms. They went on to produce two short films and are now embarking on their first theatre production as a team.

The play will have its premier performance at the Greater Manchester Fringe in July, followed by performances at the Morecambe Bay Fringe, also in July.

The play ‘Patience’ tackles a subject close to Marianne’s heart, namely, reduced government funding to the NHS. Using the allegory of school admissions, the play takes a satirical look at the impact of funding cuts on NHS staff and patients.

The play tells the tale of one mother's struggles to get her son admitted into the area's only school. We witness how she faces constant stonewalling by the headteacher’s autocratic assistant and navigates the absurd Catch-22 situations which ambush her along the way.

This play will make audiences laugh and make them mad!
