Washington Memorial Bridge - Wilmington, DE

            The Washington Memorial Bridge spans Brandywine Creek northeast of downtown Wilmington, DE.

The five-arch bridge is made of reinforced concrete and steel.  It stretches three quarters of a mile across the creek.

The central pillars resemble obelisks.

The bridge was dedicated on Memorial Day in 1922, in honor of the war dead whose names are listed on plaques all along the bridge.
