The grave of Lilian and Robert Dyer is undergoing restoration

Robert was born 19 August, 1878 in Tokyo, Japan. He was the middle of the three Dyer brothers, whose father was Henry Dyer, the noted engineer and educator who was integral in pioneering Western style education in Japan.

Robert enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1897, aged 19, the same year as his brother, James Ferguson Dyer. He attended classes in Mathematics, Higher Natural Philosophy, and Naval Architecture among others. Dyer initially worked as a Naval Architect in Glasgow, but by 1911, he had moved to Hong Kong where he became the Chief Manager of the Whampoa Dock Company. He retained this position until 1932 when he returned to the UK.

Robert was chieftain of the Hong Kong St Andrew's Society for 1918-1919 and again in 1926-1927.
