That Lighthouse Again! - a photo on Flickriver

            Ok so maybe I'm hooked after just one brief visit.  It appears moody and lonely in a storm, although at the moment I took this there was plenty of company in the form of photographers who had bunked off for the day to watch the angry tide race towards them where they were hunkered down in the dunes.

We found ourselves here after a rapid alteration to the existing plan of heading southwards to Porthcawl when we realised that big waves were going to be the crucial missing element from any compositions there, due to a last minute observation that our arrival would be at low tide.  So we came to Talacre instead, initially just gawping joyfully at the bleakness beyond the dunes, which themselves were wafting invitingly into many of the shots we took here.  We were lucky too.  Not long after we'd returned to the car for the long journey back home to Cornwall the rain came in hard and heavy, turning into snow for a while as we plotted our way down the busy M6 motorway.

For this third picture from Talacre I emerged from the dunes to where the sea charged towards my tripod, and with the ND filter in place I went for my favourite exposure time of around 2 seconds for feisty seascapes.  I love watching the way the sea moves in a scene like this, coursing in all directions with the drag running back from the shore colliding with the incoming waves.  It's a very long way from home, but a place I'll definitely return to in the future.
