The Birth Day Watch - a photo on Flickriver

            May 15th, 1974 was a big day for me.

I bought this watch when we were newly married and living in Darwin. A workmate knew someone selling cheap watches and this, my first self-winding watch. only cost me $20. I suspect it might have fallen off the back of a customs seizure. 

That same day, my first son was born. 

Fathers weren't allowed to attend the big event back then so I wasn't there for the birth. 
(Actually, I only have my wife's word for it that I was there for the conception! 😮 )

Anyway, just about every May since then I dig it out and wear it on the 15th, and it still keeps pretty good time.
