            A being of immense power and unbreakable will, Diaa is a member of a race known only as the Predecessors. The Predecessors were the ancestors of Okoto's mask makers and were the creators of Okoto's great city. Diaa is the predecessor blessed with control over light, and he believes he was given this element for moral perfection. Diaa sees himself as the only one fit to rule the world, and as such he once attempted to overthrow his fellow Predecessors and attain sovereignty over the universe. For his crimes, Diaa's spirit was sealed within his great mask of shielding, where it remained for eons until an estranged villager named Rashad freed him from his prison. Diaa believes that all life is corrupt, and his sole wish is to purify the world of corruption. Now, Diaa seeks the Mask of Creation so that he can destroy the world and recreate it to his liking. He is more than a match for even an army of Toa, and he may be the greatest threat the Masters and the Pahu have ever faced.


Diaa's powers give him control over all light. This gives him the ability to use flashes, lasers, radiation, and more in combat. He wears the Great Mask of Shielding which, when in use, can protect him from virtually all attacks. He wields the Sword of Radiance, a Blade that only Diaa can use. Additionally, he carries Light's Gavel, a giant hammer that can change shapes use constructs of light.
Diaa's wing-like crests give him the power of flight, but do not lift him naturally.
