Ahi, Guardian Of Lava - a photo on Flickriver

Abilities:
Ahi wields the Powers of Gaar, which give him control over lava and igneous rock, and enhanced speed and mobility. He can summon, create, and move lava, as well as breathe in lava. He is incredibly resistant to heat and fire. Ahi is skilled in sword play. He wields Legend Breaker, a sword which can cut through any natural material with its plasma edge. Legend Breaker is fueled by Fire Elixir, of which Ahi carries a decent supply.

Backstory:
Once a general in the Conduit army on Okoto, Ahi led the majority of the Conduits in the Predecessor-Conduit war which occurred centuries before Makuta's fall. Ahi proved to be a huge obstacle for the Predecessor's plans, so they commissioned Bireos, the Hunter, to assassinate him. As the tables of the war turned and the Conduits began to flee from the island, Ahi stayed behind to ensure their safe exit. Ahi faced off against Bireos and the Okotan army. With his elixirs depleted and strength exhausted, Ahi fell in combat. In the jaws of death, Ahi was offered a deal by the mysterious spirit Gaar. The terms: Ahi would gain Gaar's power of lava control in exchange for Ahi's Conduit abilities and 1300 years of service as the new guardian of Okoto's volcanoes. Ahi used his new power to defeat Bireos, and thus began his career as the Guardian of Lava.

Following Diaa's return over 1000 years later, Ahi left his post to oppose the revived demigod. During this war with Diaa, Ahi fell into a skull spider infested cavern while locked in combat with Ryylem, the Anteumbran Knight. The two worked together for three days to escape the cave. Following this instance the two seemed to be on amiable terms, although enemies. After Ahi saved Ryylem from Diaa when she was accused of insubordination, Ryylem permanently allied herself with Ahi, and the two now work as a team to fight Diaa.

Ahi's role as the vessel of Gaar's power makes him one of the most important individuals in the war with Diaa. But what purpose does Ahi actually fill?
