Oakworth Departure - a photo on Flickriver

Oakworth Departure

            BR standard 2-6-4 mixed traffic tank no. 80002 awaits departure from Oakworth on 12th October 2012, with the 12.00 service from Keighley to Oxenhope during the KWVR Autumn Steam Gala. The loco was built at Derby and went into traffic in October 1952 with BR Scottish Region. She spent some time as a banking loco for heavy trains over Beattock summit and latterly escaped being scrapped, after withdrawal in 1967, by being used as a carriage heating loco at Glasgow Cowlairs depot. She was purchased by the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway direct from BR and was moved to Haworth in 1969. Withdrawn from traffic in 2013, she is currently awaiting overhaul and is on display at Oxenhope.
