Le Bécasseau violet - Calidris maritima

            Seul, ou en petits groupes, la toundra est son lieu de prédilection. Il se nourrit d’insectes et de petits crustacés qu’il recherche le long des plages. Généralement, les deux parents couveront les 4 oeufs et les poussins quitteront assez tôt le nid. Le bécasseau, pour se protéger, n’hésitera pas à simuler l’oiseau blessé. Entre 2000 et 10 000 couples sont estimés au Spitzberg.
