This is a Salmon ladder on the Water of Milk near Lockerbie Dumfries & Galloway
Fish ladders are essential for migratory fish species such as salmon and trout who travel upstream to their spawning grounds. The ladders provide a series of stepped pools with controlled water flow, allowing the fish to gradually ascend and bypass the obstacle (e.g., a dam) without using excessive energy. However not today as the river was in flood
