Arkaroola Wildnerness Sanctuary Village Reception, Flinders Ranges South Australi

            Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary and wildlife sanctuary.
The area's first people are the Adnyamathanha.

Located adjacent to the Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park.
Consisting of 610 square kilometres of freehold and pastoral lease land in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia.

Home to significant fossil deposits, the region was dubbed "one great outdoor museum" explorer and geologist Douglas Mawson.

In 1968 Sprigg Family purchased Arkaroola for Wildlife Preservation & Conservation of Environment and Arkaroola Village was established.

After much negotiation, the Sprigg family succeeded in having Arkaroola gazetted as a wildlife sanctuary (1969) and historic reserve (1970). This joint reserve status was withdrawn without explanation by the South Australian Government in 1972, and finally reinstated in 1996.The Arkaroola Sanctuary remains entirely privately owned, with all development under the control of the Sprigg family.

Arkaroola was listed on the South Australian Heritage Register on 27 July 2012.
