Nuriootpa railway station built 1911 and demolished 2011. Barossa Valley South Australia

            Nuriootpa railway station opened in 1911 as part of the Gawler to Angaston line. Closed to regular passengers in 1968 and demolished in 2011.

Nuriootpa is anticipating a boom as the result of the construction of the Angaston railway. The decision to build the station nearer the town than was originally intended gives the greatest satisfaction, and there is now agitation for the construction of a direct road by which the station will be nearer still to the centre of the town. Already enterprising persons are "spying out the land" in the vicinity of the railway-station. The railway will be a great convenience to the fruit exporters, who will be saved the twelve-mile journey over wretched roads to the forwarding station.
