Weetulta-Nalyappa -The Methodist Church, with foundation stone laid 1905, that opened in 1906. Yorke Peninsula South Australia

            On 1 November 1905 this Methodist Church foundation stone was laid by H R Hancock Esquire, of Nalyappa.
This church was to be the successor to the earlier (and first) Methodist Church opened in 1887 after purchasing the tin Baptist Church.

The new Methodist church at Weetulta has been opened under most pleasing circumstances. The services on Sunday, which were conducted by the Rev O Lake, minister of the circuit, were largely attended while the discourses were appropriate, and highly appreciated. 
On Wednesday the opening function was continued, in which the Rev Henry Howard took part. The great Pirie Street orator preached an eloquent sermon in the afternoon to a crowded congregation, and in the evening he lectured on 'Men I have met', when a packed audience was again delighted with his efforts.
Mr H B Hancock, of Nalyappa, who laid the foundation stone of the church in November, presided.

Between the sermon and the lecture tea was served, and from between 3 and 4 until well on towards 8 o'clock the waitresses were kept hard at it, so numerous were the visitors who desired to participate in the good things, provided entirely by Mrs Long.

The proceeds on Sunday and Wednesday amounted to between £20 and £30, and before the close of the proceedings over £100 were promised towards the funds. Visitors were present from all parts of the district, including a large number from Moonta. Ref:People's Weekly (Moonta SA) Saturday 17 March 1906.
