I watched this Merlin catch this Dunlin at Beacon Ponds near Spurn. It's approach was to fly low and fast towards 2000 Dunlin at their high tide roost. Such was its stealth it had caught the bird before any of the flock had a chance to panic. Having got a better grip and among the panic it flew towards me and landed on the banking where i was sitting and began to eat its meal.
